WASHINGTON—Shen Yun Performing Arts performances at the Kennedy Center Opera House this week continued with a full house.
Ms. Orr, a
make-up artist from Europe, attended the Saturday afternoon performance and greatly enjoyed Shen Yun’s presentation of ancient Chinese culture ih classical Chinese dance and music.
“I just love the costumes, the
makeup, the jewelry—it was just like heaven. All the colors, very, very pleasant to watch, beautiful.”
Ms. Orr also very much enjoyed the Shen Yun Orchestra: “My first impression was the orchestra, the music—it takes you to a different place. You know, it was authentic.”
According to Shen Yun Performing Arts, the music performed by Shen Yun’s orchestra are all original scores. The traditional Chinese instruments complement classical Western instruments creating a sound both dramatic and new.
Ms. Orr, originally from Europe, was unfamiliar with Chinese culture before the performance. “I didn’t know it was so rich ... everything-diversity, color, movement. I mean, everything. It was very elegant, very feminine, flowing, it was beautiful. “
Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company will perform in Washington, D.C. until Jan. 24, and then be in Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 26-27.
